Chapter 15: Astrology and medicine seem to be intimately linked with each other. In the Nadi manuscripts, you will find a chapter on prevention and cure of diseases called the 'Aushada Kandam' (chapter 15). You will find here a description of the diseases that you would be prone to. This is literally having diagnosed with the aid their vision of planetary positions that are to be much later in time. The sages have also given instructions for prevention or cure.
I am amazed at these skillful diagnostic prediction for individuals. I say this because every time someone read this Nadi chapter and later on happened to go for an ayurvedic consultation with a doctor, we found that the diagnosis of the doctor through 'Nadi pariksha' (pulse diagnosis) turned out to be exactly what the prediction was.
And the astrological remedies suggested by the sages for the diseases are to do with nature. One such remedy that is suggested for most people is a bath in the waterfalls at Kutrallam for a prescribed number of days. It is usually supposed to be followed every day for one 'mandalam' which is 48 days.
